I often find when I am out of the studio thats when I get inspired. I saw this smashed up ikea lack table on the side of the road and it made me think about things. I find especially with porcelain there is so many plates out there that are mass produced in china and of poor quality. I really want to my work to be different from that and to make things that are really good quality and design and that last. I always believe that quality rather than quantity is the way to go. any way small post for today. thanks again for all the comments and gallery interest its very motivating. have a shiny day, see the sunshine in all things.... love c ooxx

missing the studio......

http://www.claybody.com.au/4/post/2011/11/missing-the-studio.html

http://www.claybody.com.au/4/post/2011/11/missing-the-studio.html#comments

Uncategorized

 [...]

so I have not posted for a little while and I have fell of the band wagon with my 365 day pot challenge!! my life has taken an unexpected change for the positive and I have met a lovely man!! so dining out and having long walks on the beach have seen me not be in the studio very much! for the first time in a very long time I feel very comfortable and happy. So I was thinking about my 365 day pot challenge and sometimes it is hard to get clay or have clay with me so I am going to change it to the 365 days of creativity challenge! so that makes it more broad and if I am away from the studio I can still take a photo or do a drawing ect. So while I have only made one pot so far I have been drawing and taking photos, I often find myself drawing little cups and bowls in a meeting when I should be concentrating!! I have also been feeling like I can not really start new work until my studio is all ready. Its almost done a few little bits to finish. I feel like I need a clear slate to begin. So I plan to finish it this week and get started as I have had expressions of interest from friends, galleries and shops which is lovely. Also I have made market coming up and I have not started so the sooner I get my studio finished the sooner I can start. the picture is some of my little drawings in my diary. I find that I am not really sure why but my drawings are quite flat! not sure if its because I am a 3d person and you can only do one medium well! let me know what you think. I am glad my blog has inspired others, keep the comments and feedback going. be creative and be grateful for what you have especially the small things like a cup of tea!! love c ooxxxx ps big thank you for the creative direction and interior design advice from the very talented Carly that helped me get my studio organised and looking hot!!

a new journey started today....

http://www.claybody.com.au/4/post/2011/11/a-new-journey-started-today.html

http://www.claybody.com.au/4/post/2011/11/a-new-journey-started-today.html#comments

Uncategorized

well so its been a very long time since I posted. I have been very busy in my new job at Vision Australia. I have not been in the studio for weeks, feeling very uninspired, tired and generally have not had time for claybody at all which has made me grumpy!! I was in a work seminar today which was very inspiring and it got me thinking that if I really want to make things and be an artist I have to make space for it in my life regardless of how busy I am. I got a bit distracted as I do sometimes!! and started doing little drawings of little pots and bowls. they were all different, in size, colour shape and they had different patterns and markings on them. It got me thinking of this women I read about who took a photo of something she was grateful for in her life everyday for twelve months. it changed how she felt about what she had and it inspired others to do the same I think she has a book now. so I thought I need a challenge I need something to work towards with a time frame and a disciplined approach to my artistic practice because thats really what it is practice. so I came up with the idea to set my self the goal of making a pot, bowl, or a piece of art everyday for the next twelve months!! I am calling it the 365 day pot challenge!! I plan to photograph them and not necessarily sell them or put them in an exhibition just for me to get inspired and motivated to be creative because its a part of me I have been neglecting and I think it will make a huge difference to how I feel. because when I start playing with clay its like nothing else in the world matters, I am so focused on what I am doing and I feel at peace, calm and happy. so I started today! i hope it will inspire others to be creative and make time for the things they love in there life. I would love feedback, ideas, support and comments..... love clare
